Meet the Board: Matt Reffett

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

We would like to thank Matt Reffett for the time he served Big Brothers Big Sisters as our Board of Directors President. He has been serving on the board since September 2017 and board President since 2020. Matt has helped Big Brothers Big Sisters to help shape “the youth of our community through mentoring.” He not only helps Big Brothers Big Sisters, but sets an example for his own children with his determined and resilient personality. While Matt has passed on the title to Sherri Bell, he still serves on the board.

His passion for giving back was fostered at a young age through watching his uncle volunteer as a mentor for the organization.

“My uncle, Steve Reffett, volunteered as a Big for many years,” he said. “Growing up, he would bring his Little to family functions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Seeing their relationship and the impact it had on the Little made a strong impression on me. When I was approached much later in life about joining the BBBS board, I knew that I would be a passionate advocate for the agency's mission.”

Today, Matt serves as Vice President of Syndications for LeasePlan USA. He is in charge of the capital markets function for LeasePlan USA, one of the largest fleet management companies in the world. He grew up in Evansville and attended Harrison High School, then the University of Southern Indiana for both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in business administration.

Matt can be described as patient, determined, and a problem solver. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and also loves trail running. He believes kids are important because they are our future.

“I feel truly blessed to have led the board of such an amazing agency,” he says. “None of it would have been possible without the support of my family, the agency staff, and my fellow board members.”

Our Board of Directors are some of the largest advocates and supporters of our organization. We are grateful for an engaged Board of Directors who are committed to our vision for all children to achieve success in life.
