Meet Our 2023 Board President

Updated: Jan 31, 2023

Meet our 2023 Board President

Sherri Bell, who lived in both Muncie, Indiana, and Tarpon Springs, Florida, growing up. She moved from Muncie to Evansville in 2000. She graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She currently works as a Manager of Pipeline Safety & Compliance for the Indiana/Ohio regions for CenterPoint Energy.

Sherri can be described as compassionate, candid, and competitive. She loves people and helping others. She can always be counted on to provide honest feedback. She dreamed of being a nurse or a teacher as a child and loves a good board or card game with family and friends. She also loves watching sports.

Her favorite quote is “progress over perfection.”

Sherri is a big movie lover and shares a few of her favorites with us including Grease. She says Grease tops the charts for her because she has many memories attached to it. These memories include watching it with her grandmother and her first show in a movie theater. She credits it for her love of musicals.

She also loves the movie Rudy. She says: “I love to see someone overcome and never give up on their dreams regardless of how others view your opportunity for success.”

Finally, the movie Stepmom is a favorite because it reveals “the relationship between the two women and the ultimate level of respect for each other. It’s a great emotional journey.”

That’s where her commitment to Big Brothers Big Sisters comes in to play as well! She says, “I love the mission and vision of the organization. I believe in the value of mentorship at all stages of life. It is about building a relationship with another person that becomes a trusted partner, ally, and supporter. When we can start that at an early age, it can impact a future. It has been a great opportunity to work with some amazing people.” She said kids are important because they are our future.

“Our ability to support our youth to become active, healthy, and happy is so vital,” says Sherri.

Our Board of Directors are some of the largest advocates and supporters of our organization. We are grateful for an engaged Board of Directors who are committed to our vision for all children to achieve success in life.
