On Sunday March 13th, matches gathered at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office to accept our Minute to Win It Challenge. Throughout the afternoon Bigs and Littles competed against one another in 11 different timed challenges to see who got the bragging rights but also competed against other matches to be crowned Minute to Win It Champions.
During the different challenges Bigs and Littles used skills and their creativity to accomplish the challenges in just 60 seconds. Some games used agility while others focused on coordinator and patience. Throughout the room you heard encouragement to their teammates, friendly trash talk, and teamwork as Bigs and Littles tried to outdo one another; but having fun doing so. Some of the challenges Bigs and Littles participated in included Moving Marshmallows, Stacking Dice, throwing Cheetos on their heads, maneuvering cookies down their faces without using hands, blowing cups across the table with balloons.
Each match worked hard completing the tasks, but only one could be crowned Big Brothers Big Sisters Champions, or so we thought. As matches tallied their scores, two matches tied with a total of 291 points each. Matches Shaylee & Valerie and Jordyn & Denise tied for our Champion spot and walked away with a trophy, KFC gift card, and many memories. We were encouraged by the true sportsmanship all the matches displayed during their time and everyone walked away as a winner.
Not only did matches participate in fun games, Littles who weren’t able to attend our Book Fair we hosted in early February, grabbed some books to take home.
