Cailan, and Indiana native, became a Big Sister in November of 2019. She is a graduate from the University of Southern Indiana where she pursued her passion of Social Work. Cailan, a former case manager at Big Brothers Big Sisters stated that she has always enjoyed working with children in her degree of studies and wanted to give back and help mold a child.
Cailan became inspired with becoming a Big Sister when talking with the matches on her caseload and wanting to have the same type of relationship with a Little in the community. She was matched with Little Sister Arielle in November of last year and the two have had so much fun together. They go out to eat, play with cats at River Kitty, take trips to Mickey’s Kingdom, and visit USI’s campus and explore. To say Cailan and Arielle have fun is an understatement. Throughout the course of their match, Cailan has helped Arielle break out of her shell and become more confident and help with her academics.
Arielle, when asked what she likes most about her Big Sister stated, “she is nice and likes to do fun things with me.” Cailan helps Arielle experience new things monthly when they are together; taking her to places that she hasn’t been or trying foods that she might not have tried. Cailan is enjoying her experience as a Big Sister and encourages others to get involved too!
