Mentoring Moment is a monthly blog post by Ryan Scott, Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director...
Last Month, I had the pleasure of kicking off our 2024 Bowl for Kids' Sake press conference, and what an incredible experience it was! From the media folks helping to get out the word, to our families coming to enjoy a night of bowling, to our agency staff/board members in attendance, it was a magical evening. Since coming on board with BBBS in June, there are typically several mornings that I have to pinch myself when I wake up and remind myself that I really do have my dream gig!
As we wrap up the month of Thanksgiving, I want to share a public "thanks" to all those involved with our agency. Without the sweat (and sometimes tears) from those that work each day within the office, our mission/vision would quickly grind to a halt. Without the public advocacy and "cheerleading" of those on our board, we would not have the level of community awareness that we do. Without our families trusting our agency, we would not have the opportunity to provide meaningful connections to kids in our area. Without the generous support and partnership of those in our community, we could not afford our mission of creating and supporting one to one mentoring. And lastly, without the community stepping up to serve as Bigs, we would NEVER be able to defend the potential of ALL kids within Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer, Posey, Henderson, Vanderburgh counties!
If you are reading this, I want to specificallyTHANK YOU. Don't ever hesitate to reach out to me if you have ideas to help us increase our impact. We very much want to work towards putting ourselves out of business. A day where ALL kids can identify positive role models, and BBBS is not needed, is the day we look forward to!
