Little Brother Carson and Big Brother Nefty first met on August 23, 2019 as a part of the Bigs with Badges program at Princeton Community Intermediate School. (Pictured in the photo on the right) As a police officer, Nefty has contact with the community on a regular basis, but he wanted to do something more. He wanted to be a positive influence in a child’s life through mentoring.
Carson and Nefty spent several months getting to know each other during Carson’s lunch time but things changed when Covid-19 closed the schools. Because they had developed such a strong friendship, they chose to switch to a community based program. While BBBS staff worked behind the scenes to make that happen, Nefty spent the spring learning about all of Carson’s favorite things. He watched the Chucky movies and even learned how to play Fortnite!
When Carson and Nefty finally reconnected for their second Match Introduction, things went right back to the way the were...
Except now, instead of playing games at a lunch table, they’re planning fishing trips, canoe outings and swimming outings! We look forward to watching their friendship continue to grow!
